Problem Note 37172: Poor performance occurs when importing models to SASĀ® Activity-Based Management under Windows 2003
If you experience poor performance when importing models in your SAS Activity-Based Management solution and you are running the Windows 2003 Server operating system, you might be able to improve performance by following the suggestions below. This information pertains to all versions of Windows 2003 Server in which SAS Activity-Based Management is supported.
- Increase the size of the minimum amount of memory of the SQL
server.
This can be done in the Enterprise Manager. The
default is zero, but a setting of 2015 has helped in some cases.
- Ensure that IIS 6 (which is provided with
Windows 2003) is not running in IIS 5 compatibility mode.
This setting is accessed via the Internet Information Services manager
under Web Sites. Select the Web Sites folder, right-click, and choose
Properties. On the Service tab, make sure that the box labeled Run WWW
Service in IIS 5.0 isolation mode is not checked.
- Prevent IIS
from automatically restarting its 'worker' processes.
These settings are accessed via Internet Information
Services manager under Application Pools. Select the Application Pools
folder, right-click, and choose Properties. On the Recycling tab, make
sure that the box labeled Recycling worker processes is not checked. On the
Performance tab, make sure that the box labeled Shutdown worker processes
after being idle... is not checked.
